Department: 5th Floor Med Surg

Shift: Full Time - 36 Hours - Day Shift 7AM-7PM

 

General Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nurse Assistant provides direct patient care to support safety, comfort, and overall well-being. This role plays a vital part in assisting the RN in planning and delivering patient-centered care while ensuring prompt and appropriate responses to emergent situations.

The Nurse Assistant demonstrates a commitment to excellence in service by adhering to the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions and responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with and perform routine patient care activities in alignment with established protocols. Conduct blood draws, venipunctures, and chemsticks as needed. Obtain and document vital signs accurately and in a timely manner. Participate in team rounding, offering input on patient condition and care. Identify and report concerns related to patients, staff, or self to the responsible RN. Assist in emergency situations, responding according to established procedures and training. Support a safe and clean environment for patients and team members. Actively engage in ongoing learning and continuing education to maintain competency.

 

Unit Description:

Join our dynamic 5th Floor Med Surg team at Henry Ford Wyandotte! This fast-paced, collaborative unit cares for a diverse adult patient population with a variety of medical conditions and post-surgical needs. Team members gain broad clinical experience, work with advanced technology, and have opportunities for professional growth and development within a supportive, patient-focused environment.

Education/Experience Required:

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. CNA preferred. Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.) OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license. OR Medical Assistant program with OR without experience. OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

 

Certifications/Licensures Required:
