Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel-Nebraska is seeking qualified applicants for the position of LMF 2nd Helper.  This position includes, but is not limited to, the operation of the Ladle Furnace and Melt Shop Chem Lab Equipment.   Must be able to perform alloy calculations, stock supplies for LMF, judge slag quality, and produce clean, high–quality steel to customer specification. The Chem Lab equipment includes ARL spectrometers, LECO carbon/sulphur and nitrogen/oxygen analyzers, and radiation detection equipment. Candidates must be able to work rotating shifts and scheduled/unscheduled overtime, including nights, weekends and holidays.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Steel Nebraska will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

 

 


Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications: 1-year Melt Shop experience 3+ months experience operating the Ladle Metallurgy Furnace Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience with chemistry lab instrumentation, with working knowledge of equipment upkeep and troubleshooting.   Understanding of steel chemistry fundamentals critical to producing clean, high-quality heats.
