Non-Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist - EMG - Toledo Hospital - Full Time - Days

In fact, we’re the only hospital in northwest Ohio to receive this honor.\ POSITION SUMMARY Conducts and records all types of EMG tests, including but not limited to conventional nerve conduction studies, late responses, repetitive nerve stimulation tests and blink reflex studies. The technologist can also perform evoked potential studies (VER, BAER, SSEP). Exhibit expertise by obtaining certification for EMGs. ACCOUNTABILITIES The employee will help coordinate the patient schedule and help to ensure safe, timely care. Competent in the correct use and troubleshooting of equipment with correction of recording instrument malfunction. Coordinates with technical support services for maintenance and repair of equipment. Documentation exists that hospital required, and department specific competency requirements have been met. Complies with safety training, infection control and hazardous material policies. Maintains liaison with physicians and staff to resolve problems. Will train in carrying out orders for nerve conduction studies and evoked potentials studies according to professional standards of practice. Completes all required documentation in preparation for physician interpretation, including technician impression. Complies with work schedule and attendance policies. Takes responsibility and accountability for participation in daily departmental activities and enhances patient safety by adhering to all institutional and departmental policies and standards, as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement and quality of care issues. Participates in the education of internal and external students and employees. Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment. Conforms to JCAHO guidelines and maintains CPR certification. Other duties as assigned. Education: High School/GED Skills: Must be able to understand directions and be able to communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate with an Associated from an accredited school of Neurodiagnostic Technology. Skills: Experience in electrodiagnostic procedures including evoked potentials and EMG’s. Years of Experience: 2 years’ experience. WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Appropriate attire for procedures as indicated in the facility policy and procedures. Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations. This position may require all or some of the following: walking, sitting, standing, reaching above or below shoulder height, kneeling/crawling, pulling/pushing >50 pounds, carrying/pushing <50 pounds, bending/stooping/crouching/twisting and continuous repetitive movements. Must be good or greater: vision, hearing, manual dexterity, talking and speech and typing. Requires the ability to concentrate for long periods of time under stressful conditions and still perform properly and effectively.
