Key Responsibilities:
Provides overall direction to and guidance to strategic operational activities while ensuring all projects, tasks and activities are aligned with the company standards and strategies and compliance guidelines.
Directs staff participation in the most complex and technical projects. Oversees creation and implementation of operational improvements that enhance delivery of services to customers aligned with industry and regulatory requirements.
Drives a culture of coaching and feedback for personal and professional guidance. Develops talent in the organization and handles all performance management tasks and related functions for team. Ensures associates are current and knowledgeable of the latest industry, competition and regulatory environment and provides the highest level subject matter expertise.
Supervises the development and delivery of education. Provides leadership to build and strengthen relationships through presentations, firm and/or direct advisor contact.
Directs the activities and staff responsible for monitoring workflow to ensure all functions are completed in a timely manner and meets/exceeds quality standards. Directs a staff who responds to the highest level of technical and most sophisticated or critical service issues and calls from sales partners, firms, producers and customers. Directs call team and client relationship activities to ensure outstanding service.
Directs all aspects of implementing enacted state and federal regulations for products and procedures, ensuring Operations is prepared and advised of audits/regulatory/legislative changes in a timely manner. Mentors, educates and trains others on partnering with appropriate teams or individuals for the coordination of responses to audits. Serves as top level advisor for leaders, peers and team members on regulatory matters. Provides expertise related to responses to regulatory agency reports and findings and works closely with Corporate Compliance to resolve any issues.
Directs all activities and functions of a staff involved in the most technical design, development, configuration, customization, deployment, maintenance and upgrading of highly technical, highly specialized business processes and procedures. Provides strategic direction and guidance about identifying key opportunities for processes and procedures to be enhanced and aligned, ensuring consistency and adherence to regulatory requirements. Provides mentoring and leads a staff who devise and/or modify procedures and technology needs within the Operation Center.
Directs expense management and leads development of solutions to streamline process and reduce operating expenses.
Provides strategic oversight, when requested, to a staff responsible for providing accurate and timely producer onboarding or compensation payment processing, as well as strict adherence to financial controls and regulatory requirements. Responsible for compliance control and testing.
Serve as strategic oversight for an underwriting staff to ensure underwriting practices and procedures in order to achieve satisfactory experience and acceptable administrative results.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Associate Vice President or Vice President. Typically, three to 10 associates report to this role.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, management, finance, pre-law or related field and/or technical insurance coursework preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 and 26 licenses may be required.
Experience: Ten years financial of services experiences in a customer service, quality control or operations environment. Supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Extensive knowledge of insurance industry concepts including, but not limited to, financial services products, regulations and guidelines. Effective team leadership and management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present to external audiences. Relationship building skills are needed.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
