Job Summary/Description:
WLOX is seeking a News Producer to join our award-winning team. The right candidate must be an excellent writer. We want someone who is creative, organized, and highly motivated to create newscasts that showcase our team's local content.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Organize daily newscasts that prioritize breaking news, live reporting, and severe weather coverage
• Write and research stories that run in your newscasts. This may be done independently or in collaboration with others in the newsroom
• Must be able to make sound split-second decisions during live broadcasts, and motivate a team to execute your vision
• Be a leader in the newsroom by actively engaging in the editorial process
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Strong verbal/written communication skills and knowledge of AP Style required
• Curiosity is required. We need someone who wants to dig for answers and keep updated on current local, regional, and national news
• Excellent time management and the ability to work well under pressure are required
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities required
• College degree in journalism preferred, but not required
• Knowledge of ENPS preferred, but not required
