We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Video Editor to join our newsroom team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling raw footage into polished, compelling news segments that align with our broadcast standards and deadlines. This role plays a critical part in storytelling, ensuring visual clarity, continuity, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
+ Edit daily news packages, VOs (Voice Overs), SOTs (Sound on Tape), and other content for broadcast under tight deadlines.
+ Collaborate with reporters, producers, and photojournalists to shape editorial content into cohesive visual stories.
+ Ensure all edited content adheres to FCC regulations, ethical guidelines, and station branding.
+ Optimize footage for various platforms including television, digital, and social media.
+ Manage and organize media assets and projects using non-linear editing systems.
+ Perform color correction, audio leveling, and graphic integration as needed.
+ Troubleshoot technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements and Qualifications:
+ Proven experience in video editing, preferably in a news or live production setting.
+ Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid).
+ Strong sense of timing, pacing, and visual composition.
+ Ability to multitask, meet strict deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
+ Familiarity with newsroom workflows, file formats, and broadcast standards.
+ Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as news dictates.
+ Degree in Film, Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field (preferred but not required).

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
In addition, the News Photographer must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and can handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
