Job Summary/Description:

We are looking for a leader and coach who understands Digital First and leads the team with fresh ideas. The News Director directly oversees all involved in our news gathering and distribution processes. This manager directs the development of our content, weighs the full editorial possibility of every story, and makes immediate decisions on how it will be disseminated on the appropriate platforms. They set the tone for the entire team. They care for their team members and work with department managers to find inventive solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong working knowledge of community issues and needs, as well as sound journalistic principles, and must have the ability to make fast, accurate journalistic and logistical judgments.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent experience
- Strong management, communication, and people skills required to supervise and interact daily with staff and the community
- Knowledge and understanding of using various digital and social platforms
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task in high-stress situations
