We are currently seeking a New Product Development Manager to join our client’s team in Santa Clara, CA. This position is onsite and may also be available in San Diego, CA or Colorado Springs, CO, depending on candidate preference and business needs.

About the Role

The New Product Development Manager will own the full lifecycle of optical transceiver product development — from concept approval through production release. This leader will manage cross-functional teams, oversee complex development cycles, and ensure all aspects of the program — including design, performance, cost, and timelines — are delivered to the highest standards.

This is a hands-on, strategic leadership role requiring deep technical knowledge of optoelectronics and strong cross-disciplinary engineering oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end development of optoelectronic assemblies, including concepting, prototyping, and production launch

Collaborate with marketing, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality teams to define and execute product roadmaps

Build and guide high-performing technical and project teams

Oversee component design, development, and testing to ensure functionality, compliance, and reliability

Drive on-time delivery with strict adherence to scope, budget, and performance

Integrate emerging technologies and materials to boost innovation and competitive edge

Mitigate risks and resolve technical roadblocks throughout development

Act as liaison between R&D, supply chain, and external vendors

Analyze customer and market feedback to inform prioritization and product refinement

Mentor staff and promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Required Qualifications

5+ years in new product development with full product lifecycle ownership

2+ years in a leadership role managing technical teams

Technical expertise in optoelectronics, including optical systems, transceivers, or related semiconductor products

Strong project management experience (e.g., MS Project, Jira)

Familiarity with quality and compliance standards for optoelectronic manufacturing

Proven track record of driving complex projects to successful completion

Exceptional communication and team leadership skills

Education Requirements

PhD + 7 years, MS + 9 years, or BS + 10 years of experience

Relevant fields: Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

Compensation & Benefits

Santa Clara, CA : $232,000 – $290,000/year 
San Diego, CA : $211,000 – $264,000/year
Colorado Springs, CO: $189,000 – $237,000/year
