Job DescriptionAs a New Product Development Engineering Co-op, you will work alongside our Product Engineers to support the New Product Development process, taking products from ideation to commercialization. In this position, you will support the development of products for Moen, Master Lock, Therma-Tru, Larson,Yale, August, and others as part of the Fortune Brands Innovations portifolio. You will work with the team through the processes of material selection, analysis, and full design implementation. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and apply problem solving, work on cross-functional teams and learn about the product engineering process.
Position location –This hybrid position requires the successful candidate to report to our North Olmsted, OH location Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday weekly.
RESPONSIBLIITIES:
What you will be doing
Assist in the day-to-day support of engineering operations for assigned departmentLearn and understand the engineering operations in assigned departmentAssist in troubleshooting quality issues and implementing corrective actionsDevelop and implement solutions for quality issues for consumers.Interface with plant Engineering, Production, Quality and Planning teams, as well as outside technical support vendorsIdentify improvement opportunities, develop solutions and review with Senior Engineering LeadConduct Design of Experiments; create reports from learnings and present data to stakeholdersRun laboratory tests on product returns and design test fixtures as needed.Assist with product reworks and organize plant inspections.Compile, prepare and present data for project updates and technical presentations to plant leadership and/or managementAssist in 50 first programs for new product launches.QualificationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focusing on mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited universityProficiency in 2D and 3D CAD (Solidworks or similar)Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)US citizen or Green Card holderTo currently reside in the Cleveland, Ohio area and have transportation to work hybrid in our North Olmsted, Ohio location for the duration of the program.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer the student can work a minimum of 2 semesters/40 hours per week. Moen will accommodate up to 4 semestersKnowledge of mechanical design concepts for plastic, metal, and composite materialsExposure to DOE’s, Tolerance Stack-upsSelf-motivated problem solver who enjoys working in a “hands-on” environmentSelf-directed and motivated for completion of projectsBe able to schedule and complete projects from start to finishAdditional InformationFortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $33,300 USD - $45,760 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
