New Market Tax Credit Business Development Officer
Description

The Business Development Officer for New Market Tax Credits (NMTC) lending and investments will originate and underwrite equity and debt for NMTC investments and loans.  They will be responsible for:

Develops and maintains profitable customer relationships within a targeted market segment by coordinating all sales and service effortsWith proficiency in NMTC, determines the appropriate risks in prospective and existing customers and transactions so that all relationships are entirely in strategic alignment with Bank risk profiles while delivering maximum CRA and / or economic benefit to the BankNegotiation of LOIs, running proformas, analyzing sponsors and CDEs, and moreStructures and closes state NMTC investments and guaranteesProvides oversight, guidance and support for more junior team members and help set strategic direction for the rest of the teamAssisting President and other senior leaders within CIC in developing a direct investment platform including project management, underwriting, closing, and asset managementEnsuring sufficient economic returns for equity and debtMaintains knowledge of all Bank products and continually develops product expertiseAnalyzes, reviews, prepares, and structures new NMTC financing opportunities with Community Development oriented organizationsPrepares complex written investment and loan credit packages for review and approval by Senior Credit Executives of the BankDirects and oversees the work of Project Managers and Asset Managers assigned to transactionsAnalyze and review investment and loan opportunities utilizing sound NMTC underwriting fundamentals as well as Community Development Credit policies.Works closely with Community Development Investment team working on shared tax credit and non-tax credit financing opportunitiesRepresents the Bank at internal and external meetings, have a presence at industry conferences and demonstrate leadership in the field of NMTCWorks on special team projects as assignedAdheres to bank policies and procedures and complies with legal and regulatory requirements.Encouraging a Huntington’s values of Can-Do Attitude, Forward Thinking and Service Heart

Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree3+ years’ experience in a NMTC Relationship Management / Business Development / Credit role in the banking / Financial industry6+ years’ experience in the NMTC sector

Preferred QualificationsTechnical knowledge of the NMTC programAbility to model investments in the financial proformaKnowledge of equity and debt products and identification of risk components of loans and investmentsA developed and focus growth mindset with the ability to pivot and be nimble in a growing divisionDeep understanding of NMTC structures with focus on indemnities and credit securitySome tax credit equity syndications knowledgeFamiliarity with Historic Tax Credits and LIHTCStrong presentation skills to senior members of BankDesire to and experience in training junior employeesHigh level of emotional intelligence in a division undergoing changeNatural intellectual curiosity to assist in growing products and services
