JOB SUMMARY
\nThe Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellow role is designed to provide a high-quality training experience for future psychologists who are interested in making a clinical and academic contribution to the field of neuropsychology. Postdoctoral Fellows gain the additional clinical experience and supervision needed to qualify for licensure and prepare for the autonomous practice in neuropsychology. The program grasps the practitioner-scholar model by valuing both clinical work and academic endeavors within its curriculum structure.
\nThe Neuropsychology Post Doctorate fellowship is designed as a 2-year fellowship to provide high quality experience.
\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
\n\nParticipates in the psychological/neuropsychological evaluations and treatment of patients in a variety of care settings with sufficient frequency, depth, and duration to achieve the competencies required by their discipline, acting at all times under the supervision of licensed psychologist staff members.\nPerforms procedures that are specified by the Program Director and carried out under the supervision of a neuropsychologist/psychologist, including clinical assessment, neuropsychological-diagnostic testing, consultation, and teaching.\nExercises progressive responsibility for patient care activities according to Fellows level of education, ability and experience. The supervising neuropsychologist/psychologist and clinical staff will resolve that level of responsibility and autonomy.\nCommunicates effectively and on a continuous basis with their supervising neuropsychologist/psychologist regarding the findings of their neuropsychological/psychological evaluation and treatment of patients, including case formulations and treatment projections for neuropsychological-diagnostic testing, and intended consultations/clinical interventions.\nWrites neuropsychological/psychological consultations, assessment reports, and progress notes in the electronic medical record, while supervising neuropsychologist/psychologists retain responsibility for the care of patients, review the care of the patients, and co-sign all chart entries.\nEngages fully in the educational and scholarly activities of the program, including clinical supervision and didactic training seminars, as well as assuming a role of educator with other trainees and staff as appropriate.\nTakes responsibility to initiate, unite, and carry out specified research project(s), under the mentorship of the supervising neuropsychologist/psychologist, in a manner that meets specified targets and timetables.\nParticipates appropriately in institutional committees and/or task forces whose actions affect either patient care or the nature of the educational program including, but not limited to, quality assurance/quality improvement activities and program recruiting.\nDevelops a personal program of learning, under the guidance of the teaching staff, designed to foster continued, lifetime professional growth and development as a professional neuropsychologist.\n\nKEY SUCCESS FACTORS
\n\nExcellent written and verbal communications skills.\nExcellent social skills.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\nKnowledge of psychology, related disciplines, and psychological tests, measures and recovery techniques and practices.\nKnowledge of psychological assessments and ability to use standardized assessment instruments.\nKnowledge of neuroanatomy/functional neuroanatomy as well as basic neurological assessment rinciples\nKnowledge of counseling and therapy techniques.\nAbility to interpret diagnostic interviews and test data.\nAbility to conduct separate and group psychotherapy is a possibility relying on interests.\nAbility to examine behavioral deficits.\nAbility to develop plans for implementing rehabilitation activities and skill acquisition and behavior management.\nAbility to maintain records of services and clients.\n\nBENEFITS
