GENERAL DUTIES
Performs Standard and Complex Electro-Neurophysiological Testing:
Provides testing on central nervous system, remains compliant to department policy and guideline standards implemented including long-term epilepsy monitoring, electroencephalograms, evoked potentials, etc.Performs LED and pattern shift, electroretinogram, electrocorticography for grid and robotic assisted procedures, electrophysiologic monitoring in surgery including evoked potentials, motor evoked potentials, free run and stimulated electromyogram, cranial nerve monitoring, h-reflexes, stimulated nerve mapping, etc.Provides assistance with electromyogram testing/nerve conduction studies and Botox injections.Maintains stock supply for surgical procedures related to epilepsy surgery.Practices International 10/20 Measuring System.Explanation and education of procedures:
Identifies patient according to policy.Provides a clear explanation of the procedure to the patient and/or responsible person present.Summarizes the patient's neurological status and enters completed comprehensive patient history into the acquiring computer system.Neurological Documentation:
Provides appropriate patient care and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during a clinical or subclinical event and other emergent situations.Takes appropriate action to ensure patient safety.Verifies all test requested include appropriate orders for the procedures and the procedures are accurately charged and entered in data logging.Technical Recording Enhancement:
Implements alternative methods, adjust controls outside of the normative parameters to obtain optimal recording and is able to enhance abnormalities.Utilizes stimulation and activation techniques appropriately.Recognizes, documents and eliminates artifacts and/or take proper measures to monitor suspected artifacts.Creates, programs new files and settings used in the Neurodiagnostic protocol using system software and procedure guidelines.Safety:
Maintains and cleans equipment after use (basic infection control) to ensure equipment is in proper working order.Applies troubleshooting methods, repairs and/or replaces instrument parts as needed with immediate notification to the manager. Communicates with technical support during troubleshooting of equipment and/or computer.Lifts, moves or transfers patients utilizing proper body mechanics to prevent self-injury or injury to others.Other Duties:
Acts as a resource for other team members as needed including training of staff in all modalities provided in neurodiagnostics (including intra-operative protocols). Offers assistance in office duties such as, but is not limited to, answering phones, scheduling appointments and scanning.
