Network Infrastructure Engineer II
SUMMARY:  The Network Infrastructure Engineer II configures, installs, and manages various network devices and services, such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.  Monitors the performance of facility networks and ensures network availability and reliability.  Develops and updates network documentation and network maps. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.

 

1.         Installs, configures, and supports network and wireless equipment.

 

2.         Updates network equipment with the latest approved firmware releases, patch systems and arranges scheduled upgrades.

 

3.         Uses various testing/troubleshooting tools and skills, traces out fiber and CAT 6 cables across multiple IDF closets and patch panels.  Labels and documents cabling and network hardware changes.

 

4.         Maintains a nationwide focus on the overall health of the network and ensures high availability and high performance of network solutions to meet business needs.

 

5.         Clearly communicates technical information with CoreCivic's business units.

 

6.         Follows the CoreCivic program management methodology and works collaboratively on project teams.

 

7.         Manages problem and request tickets for assigned technology.

 

8.         Ensures availability of supported technology.

 

9.         Domestic U.S. travel is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is required.  Three years of related experience is required.  Cisco CCNA certification is required.  Additional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.  Must have a strong understanding of network concepts, LAN/MAN/WAN topologies, VLANs, Switch Trunking, Virtual Port Channels (VPC), network subnetting, OSPF, BGP, Access Lists, NAC/802.1x, Spanning Tree and QoS policies. Knowledge of DNS/DHCP configurations such as: Bluecat DNS and Microsoft DHCP.  Experience with the following network hardware/software platforms is preferred; FortiNAC, Cisco Nexus (NX-OS) switches, HP/Aruba ClearPass and HP/Aruba 2900/2600 /5400 series switches, Cisco 9200/9300 series switches; Zero Trust framework, Extreme wireless access-point and Azure/AWS support. Cisco CCNP certification is preferred.  Must demonstrate solid reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills.  Strong verbal and written communications skills is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
