Network Engineer II - Third Shift

BE PART OF THE CONNECTION

As a Network Engineer in the Technology Operations team, you'll assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems basic to intermediate complexity. You'll monitor protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement. You will also be responsible for implementation of network architecture and designs. WHAT OUR NETWORK ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST

Actively and consistently supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.Participating in network planning, network architecture design and engineering.Must be able to work the following shift: Saturday through Wednesday from 10PM - 8AMIntegrating communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.Evaluating new products, performing network problem resolution.Assisting in the development and documentation of technical standards.Implementing approved methods of procedure.Implementing and assisting in designing protocol compatibility standards, developing and implementing network enhancements and making recommendations for improvement.Working on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization.Providing tier support across organizations.Working on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead.Coaching less experienced staff.Adhering to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.Knowing, understanding and following company policy.Performing other duties as requested by supervisor. 

Days are fast-paced, and a learning mindset is essential in Technology Operations. As you troubleshoot network issues alongside a collaborative team of engineers, you’ll get to know all the various platforms Spectrum is responsible for. Our engineers leverage some of the latest technology such as optical, routers, and switches to overcome technical challenges. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

Experience:

Three (3) years of Data Network experience.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and / or equivalent work experience.

Technical skills:

Demonstrated data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)Demonstrated knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols.Demonstrated knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology.

Skills: 

Demonstrated knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.Demonstrated knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliances.Demonstrated knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio.Knowledge of Microsoft Office. 

Abilities:

Ability to read, write and speak the English language.Must be able to work the following shift: Saturday through Wednesday from 10PM - 8AMAbility to use personal computer and software applications.Ability to perform duties in a very fast paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.Ability to work in a team environment.

Travel Ability: This position is eligible for our Hybrid Work Policy. Eligible employees can work from home up to one day each week.

Working Conditions:

May work in Network Lab environment.24X7 Technology Operations environment. Depending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the job.Occasional travel as required.

Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge:

Knowledge of company products and services.

Preferred Education:

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) 
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)

The base pay for this position generally is between $75,200.00 and $120,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
