Network Engineer II

Do you have what it takes to assist in the planning, forecasting, and implementation of resource requirements for Spectrum Business network systems? As a Network Engineer II, you will be responsible for monitoring protocol compatibility standards, developing and implementing network enhancements, and making recommendations for improvement. You will also be responsible for implementation of network architecture and designs. All of this will directly support our mission to keep millions connected


WHAT OUR NETWORK ENGINEERS ENJOY THE MOST

Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering.Integrate communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.Evaluate new products, performs network problem resolution Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards.Implement approved methods of procedure.Implement and assist in designing protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement.Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization.Provide tier support across organizations. Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead.Coach less experienced staff.Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

Experience:

Three (3+) years of data network experience  

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience    

Technical Skills:

Ability to use personal computer and software applications and Microsoft Office

Demonstrated knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.),Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols

Demonstrated data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport), knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology, and using ticketing and software tools to support the current operationsDemonstrated knowledge of basic network devices, basic network appliances, and network designing software such as VisioSkills and Abilities: Ability to read, write and speak the English languageDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and learn new technology quickly    Working Conditions:Office EnvironmentMay work in Network Lab environment24X7 Network Operations environmentDepending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the jobOccasional travel as required

Preferred Education

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP )Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)

The base pay for this position generally is between $75,200.00 and $120,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
