As a Network Development Engineer at Project Kuiper, you will lead the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of mission-critical enterprise networks supporting our manufacturing facilities, research labs, launch sites, and mission operations centers worldwide. You will ensure high availability, performance, and security of network infrastructure across multiple global locations.
Key job responsibilities
- Deployment and ongoing maintenance of complex network solutions in manufacturing and lab environments
- Ensure robust network operations supporting launch and mission activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex routing, interconnectivity, and performance issues
- Implement and manage change control processes for network modifications
- Develop and maintain operational procedures and technical documentation
- Lead capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives
- Enhance and manage monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue detection
- Mentor junior engineers on operational best practices and troubleshooting techniques
- Drive automation initiatives to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network reliability for mission-critical operations
A day in the life
Your day begins reviewing network monitoring alerts across manufacturing facilities and mission operations centers. You'll analyze traffic patterns and capacity needs for the factory floor while planning network expansion for new lab spaces. You will participate in the deployment of network solutions for upcoming launch sites, contract manufacturing partners, and testing facilities. You will coordinate with vendors on WAN circuit installations, troubleshoot routing issues affecting production systems, and mentor team members on complex network deployments. You'll participate in change management meetings, schedule maintenance windows, and document network modifications. Throughout the day, you'll handle escalations from manufacturing teams, validate network security controls, and ensure high availability across all sites. The role requires balancing immediate operational needs with strategic planning and improvement of processes and procedures in order to maintain network reliability for mission-critical operations.
This is an on-site role that requires employees to work from the company's office 5 days per week. Remote work is not an option for this position. The role will include up to 25% of business travel.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
- 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
- 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS and AWS networking products such as Direct Connect and Transit Gateway

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
