Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (DS) is seeking a well-qualified Voice Engineering Technician to join its dynamic team of technical professionals in the Huntsville, AL area. 

Roles and responsibilities will include:

Provide technical support to clients, respond to their requests promptly by prioritizing and allocating them, monitor and resolve voice network issues, design, configure, implement, and provide support  for VoIP installations whenever the need arises, evaluate wiring problems and fix them, assess and state solutions for voice communication issues, plan and suggest systems management software and network hardware, customize network design and architecture so that it ensures compliance and capacity planning, take ownership for the entire configuration, make sure maintenance of routers, switches, and other devices in place for the voice systems, and ensure that voice services are reliable, scalable, and available.Identifying and resolving issues with voice communication systems, including audio and video equipment, test setups, and electronic components. Working with other engineers to integrate and test new voice communication systems, ensuring they meet specifications. Maintaining and supporting the hardware and software components of voice communication systems, including servers, routers, and related devices. Creating and maintaining documentation for voice communication systems, including schematics, drawings, and reports on testing and maintenance activities. Working with other engineering teams, such as software engineers and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of voice communication systems. Strong understanding of electronic principles, including audio and video, and experience with troubleshooting equipment. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with voice communication systems. Engineers interact with service team on unplanned incidents and maintenance activities.  They need to ensure maximum service accessibility, deliver network services for clients on essential equipment, and provide support to all technical teams.Hands-on experience with electronics and mechanical troubleshooting. Knowledge of different VoIP protocols, SIP, RTP, MGCP, etc. will be beneficial. Scripting experience in languages, such as Perl, Javascript, Python, etc.Monitoring ticket alerts to ensure customers service requests are attended to promptly. Responsible for minimizing downtimes to their clients/organization’s platforms and services.

This position may be filled at the Network Communications or Principal Network Communications level, depending on the years of experience candidates bring.

Basic Qualifications for Network Communications:

Associate's degree and 3 years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience, or Master's degree and 2 years of related experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 8 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Network Communications:

Associate's degree and 6 years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience, or Master's degree and 3 years of related experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 10 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

Remaining Qualifications for Both Levels:

Active DoD Secret level security clearance and the ability to maintain the required clearance as a condition of continued employment; the selected candidate will be required to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance based on customer and/or program requirements.The ability to obtain Special Access Programs (SAP) within a period of time as determined by program and/or customer requirements, as a condition of continued employment.Current CompTIA Security Plus (or higher) certification.Current Cisco Certified Network Associate Voice (or higher) certification.Experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting Cisco voice and unified communications solutions.Experience with managing routing protocols over Enterprise level environments.Experience with configuring, installing, and maintaining network hardware like Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Call Manager Express (CME).Knowledge on configuring, installing, and maintaining encryption devices (TACLANES) as well as operating General Dynamic’s GEM One and/or GEM X Enterprise Encryptor Management server.Experience with implementing security best practices to include management of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ICE) and Cisco Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System Plus (TACACS+).Use test tools and equipment to identify the root cause of issues on the clients/organization’s business such as Wireshark, Opnet, SolarWinds, etc. Maintain accurate records of trouble and fixing efforts.Administer and oversee server, network utilization and functioning with the network team.Knowledge of VoIP and TCP/IP Internetworking.Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications and Visio.Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Possesses an active DoD TS clearance and has the ability to be granted a Special Access Program (SAP) TS clearance within a period of time as determined by program and/or customer requirements, as a condition of continued employment.Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices; experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis, and system architecture design.Current CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) (or higher security certification)Current Cisco Certified Network Professional Collaboration certificationSkilled designing, installing, and troubleshooting Cisco voice and unified communications solutions.Skilled with managing Cisco Unified Call Manager and Cisco Unified Call Manager Express within Enterprise level environmentsSkilled with voice hardware from Cisco such as VoIPs, VTC systems, etc.Experience with configuring, installing, and maintaining encryption devices (TACLANES) as well as operating General Dynamic’s GEM One and/or GEM X Enterprise Encryptor Management server.Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, Opnet, SolarWinds, etc.)Extensive knowledge of VOIP and TCP/IP Internetworking.Skilled with Microsoft Office 365 applications and Visio.Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.

Salary Range: $77,600.00 - $116,400.00Salary Range 2: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
