The Network Security Specialist plays a key role in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of the organization’s network infrastructure. This position focuses on day-to-day network security operations, including firewall administration, switch and router configuration, VLAN management, and support for network-related projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco infrastructure, and a strong understanding of network security principles with the ability to support both routine tasks and project-based initiatives.
Design, implement, and support company firewalls, rule updates, VPN configurations, and threat prevention features. Assist in implementing and maintaining network security policies and procedures. Actively contribute to research, design, and implementation of network technology (wireless, route/switch, datacenter, security, etc.) infrastructure. Support network-related projects, including hardware upgrades, site expansions, and security enhancements. Operate, maintain, and support a secure network infrastructure, utilizing industry best practices and relevant technology. Collaborate with IT and business teams to ensure smooth execution of project tasks. Participate in continuous improvement efforts by leveraging data, end-user feedback, and teamwork. Maintain accurate documentation of network security configurations, policies, and procedures. Participate in on-call rotation and provide support during off-hours as necessary. Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance network capabilities. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent relevant experience is required. 7+ years of experience in enterprise network security and support. Proven experience with Palo Alto firewalls or Prisma cloud service. Experience in supporting Cisco networking components. Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid environments. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, and/or PCNSA are a plus. Self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to work independently. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Willingness to travel up to 25% and participate in after-hours support as necessary.
