Job Description

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to join our nearshore team at Devoteam Portugal, working in close collaboration with Devoteam Belgium for one of their strategic clients in the HR and social security sector.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in mainframe environments and is capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative and solution-oriented culture.

What You Will Do

Develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications (both batch and online)Collaborate with functional analysts and end-users to translate business requirements into technical solutionsTroubleshoot and resolve production incidents and performance issuesWrite and maintain technical documentationParticipate in code reviews and provide support during integration and deployment

QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of experience working with COBOLSolid understanding of mainframe environments, including:CICS, JCL, DB2

Familiarity with tools such as:

IDz, VSAMStrong analytical skills, autonomy, and a proactive problem-solving mindsetGood communication skills in English and/or Dutch
