Academic Year Internship Program:

Assist with planning community meetings and receptions for 50-100 peopleRefresh stations’ partner and influencer listsResearch feature opportunities for community segments and showsWrite engaging solution-focused articles for station websitesAssist with planning and set up of dynamic live shots in the communityThought leader on digital community engagement opportunitiesDemonstrate good judgment, resourcefulness, confidence, and a positive attitude in response to viewer comments and requestsUtilize Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs in execution of assignmentsMust be able to manage multiple assignments with short deadlinesSpanish language writing and speaking proficiency a plusSchedule requirements: Hybrid work arrangement with minimum two days per week in office. Days flexible and dependent on tasks to be completed. Some early mornings, evenings and weekends based on department needs and intern availability.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS
Basic Requirements:
Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026). December 2025 graduates are not eligible for our 2025-2026 Academic Year Program.Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (September 2025 to April 2026). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Must be available to work 16-24 hours per weekMust be willing to work in Washington, DCDesired Characteristics:
Desired Backgrounds Include: Journalism or Broadcast Journalism, Digital/New Media Studies, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Production, English, Social Media, Research.
Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbalPrevious internship experience or on-campus involvementAbility to work effectively in a high-intensity environment, often under tight deadline pressuresStrong written and oral communication skillsAttention to detail and strong organizational skillsStrong interest in and demonstrated knowledge of current affairsExcellent computer skills (especially search skills)The hourly rate for student interns is $17.95
INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ATTENDING U.S. UNIVERSITIES:
To participate in NBCUniversal’s 2025-2026 Academic Year internship program, you must confirm at the time of interview that you will be able to provide US work authorization documentation for the entire duration of the internship. Since the NBCU Academic Year Internship Program spans the traditional “Fall” and “Spring” semesters, you should talk to the DSO at your school’s International Students Services Office about your need to apply for CPT work authorization twice to ensure you are authorized to work both semesters and throughout the entirety of the program.
Please also note that future visa sponsorship at NBCUniversal is rarely available for post-grad employment opportunities.
