Corteva seeks a passionate and results-driven Research Scientist to join the Breeding Technologies team. This role focuses on driving innovation in hybrid wheat, reduced stature corn, and double haploid (DH) platform deployment. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams across Crop Product Development, Biotechnology, Genomics, and Information Systems to accelerate trait discovery, optimize breeding strategies, and enable product development in corn and wheat.
What You'll Do:
Drive continuous innovation and improvement of hybrid wheat, accelerate reduced stature corn, and support deployment of DH technologies.
Design and execute complex molecular biology and genetic discovery experiments, integrating multi-omics data
Analyze phenotypic and genotypic data to inform multi-trait selection and breeding strategies
Collaboratively apply AI/ML or modeling tools to enhance experimental design and decision-making
Translate computational predictions into testable hypotheses across lab, greenhouse, and field systems
Collaborate across R&D teams to ensure alignment with Corteva’s Core Values, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
Communicate research insights through technical reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications
Mentor junior scientists and provide scientific leadership within project teams
Stay current with advances in molecular breeding, plant genetics, and trait technologies to maintain technical excellence
What Skills You Need:
Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline strongly preferred
Masters degree will be considered only with proper experience
Proven experience in hybrid sterility systems, DH technology, and reduced stature traits in corn
Strong background in native trait discovery, comparative genomics, mutagenesis & TILLING, gene expression, molecular biology, and experimental design
Experience using AI/ML or modeling approaches for experiment design or data analysis across biological scales
Ability to translate genomic & computational insights into actionable experimental workflows from lab to field
Proficiency in field research operations, phenotyping, and large-scale data analysis
Demonstrated ability to lead innovative, independent research with measurable impact
Strong publication and/or intellectual property record
Excellent collaboration, communication, mentoring, and project management skills
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
