National Logistics Manager - Procurement and Supply

Downer Rail & Transit Systems business has a wide portfolio of projects currently in delivery nationally.  RTS leverages the in-house capabilities within Downer to offer integrated solutions covering rollingstock, infrastructure, rail systems, operations and maintenance, as well as system integration.

Downer provides asset management services to over 50% of the Sydney Suburban Rollingstock. We are seeking to engage an experienced National Logistics Manager who will lead the warehouse stores teams across 5 RTS Sites (locations in QLD, NSW and VIC) for safe and efficient warehouse operations, logistics and inventory management – receiving, receipting, putaway, picking and dispatching. Supporting the on-site team at each of these sites focused on delivering the day-to-day requirements for train maintenance and overhaul projects. A further site will be completed in future which presents an opportunity for early engagement in the layout functionality, process and team planning.

This position requires strong Safety leadership, guidance and governance, that drives a Safety Culture across the warehouse and logistics teams. 

About you:

A background in a technical warehousing and logistics environment, where you will be familiar with the material requirements of asset management and project planning (i.e Automotive, Aerospace, Rail, Mining etc) Minimum 6+years’ experience & proven success in Warehouse & Logistics Management at a senior level managing multi-site operations Proven experience in a fast paced, customer focussed warehouse environment where you can evidence application of Lean tools / Operational Excellence in delivering performance improvement. Demonstrable engaging leadership experience where you have managed, coached and mentored teams to achieve effective outcomes and high performance.  A strong leader of people and change management with ability to drive process change and resource alignment to meet business needs. Makes critical and timely decisions in difficult or ambiguous situations ensuring safe and robust outcomes. Preferred candidate to be based in Sydney with a willingness to travel to Brisbane and Melbourne
