The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a **National Director - Content, Channel Strategy and Operations** . **The location for this position is remote and flexible.** The Director of Content, Channel Strategy and Operations leads the content arm responsible for aligning all written content -from mission to marketing -into unified, high-performing outcomes. This role oversees three critical areas: a team of campaign and mission content writers, the American Heart library, and an operational support function that manages workflows and tools across the entire content team. Working in close collaboration with the Vice President of Channel and Content Strategy, the Director helps shape channel-aware content strategies that support Association initiatives, personalization, AI-leveraged search visibility, and efficient content reuse. This is a strategic, cross-functional leadership role that integrates storytelling, structure, and systems to drive measurable content impact. Sets priorities and objectives for the team. + Develops and implements a content strategy that supports omnichannel distribution, personalization efforts, and broader organizational priorities. + Collaborates with the VP of Channel and Content Strategy, as well as marketing, digital, creative, and business teams, to plan and align content needs with the enterprise channel strategy. + Oversees content creation for mission content, dynamic web experiences, AI Overviews, structured content, voice assistants, and search-optimized platforms. Responsible for upskilling and development for all content team members on latest content techniques. + Develops and maintains the organization's style guide, including editorial standards and policies in collaboration with Brand Team. + Oversees content development across a range of priorities, including mission-driven storytelling, educational content, dynamic web experiences, AI Overviews, structured content, voice assistants, and search-optimized platforms. + Partners with internal stakeholders to support the development and execution of sponsored-focused content initiatives. + Oversees the operational support function for the content team, including intake, timelines, handoffs, and governance processes. Supervises the role responsible for managing Workfront (or equivalent tools), ensuring team-wide visibility, workflow efficiency, and scalable delivery across all content efforts. + Manages the Association's library function, by managing the librarian responsible for research and library sciences, ensuring internal teams have access to accurate, up-to-date resources that promote consistent messaging, informed content creation, and strategic reuse. + Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent + Five (5) years of progressive experience in content strategy, content marketing leadership, or integrated marketing communications. **Seven (7) years preferred.** + Five (5) years in content campaign style writing across the full funnel: awareness, engagement, conversion, and retention as well as content writing for topics and storytelling. + Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in content writing, aligning content across departments or initiatives, and managing writing teams is preferred. + High Proficiency with managing content operations, project management systems (ex. Workfront), and workflow governance. + Experience with SEO, AI-optimized writing, and personalized content strategy is highly preferred. **Compensation & Benefits** Expected pay range will be $100,000 to $130,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. That’s why we regularly review the market value of jobs and make adjustments, as needed. + **Performance and Recognition** – You are rewarded for achieving success by merit increases and incentive programs; this position is incentive eligible. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay.
