MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Music Education Teacher will design and deliver engaging, trauma-informed music instruction for students in a K–12 alternative education setting. This position requires a strong understanding of differentiated instruction, social-emotional learning (SEL), and the therapeutic benefits of music. The teacher will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support students' academic, behavioral, and emotional growth. Key responsibilities include: + Provide music education/music therapy to 5-21 year old students with a variety of special needs. + Instruction to include general music instruction, incorporate instruments, technology, voice, and movement where appropriate + Align lesson plans/curriculum to NYS Learning Standards for the Arts. Develop and implement standards-based music lessons that are inclusive, engaging, and accessible to diverse learners + Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies for students with IEPs, 504 plans, or behavioral intervention plans + Able to use music and technology to assist students in developing 21st Century Skills Job Qualifications REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + NYS Certification in Music Education K-12 + Prefer Board Certified Music Therapist + Prefer experience during student teaching and/or internship with students with special needs Civil Service Title: Teacher Job Number: 25-169
