Job Responsibilities:Conducting a variety of tours, educational programs, and craft workshops for children and adults using diverse and creative teaching methods, techniques, and toolsPreparation and delivery of history-based education programs, guided tours, outreach and special education eventsInterpret for visitors during special events through demonstrations and activitiesAssistance with delivery of public programming and special events as well as the administrative functions of education programmingDelivery of exceptional customer service and reception duties including:o Program Registration and retail sales using Xplor Registration/POS system
o Providing information to customers and potential customers both over the phone and in person
Delivery of exceptional customer service (including welcoming, conduct and communication) to all participantsSupport and promote the Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD)Performing physical daily program set up and clean-up as requiredEnsure the safety of education program participants, visitors and staff as well as protection of on-site resourcesPerforming physical daily program set up and clean up as well as assistance with building and site cleaning and program maintenance for program areas.Qualifications:Graduate or current student of education, history, child studies, drama/arts, recreation or museum studies programExperience in the museum sector an assetExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent customer service and problem-solving skillsExperience working with computers, including Microsoft Office SuitePrevious experience working with registration systems would be an assetAbility to work in a team environmentStrong organizational abilitiesAbility to operate with a minimum of direct supervisionGood working knowledge of the Ontario curriculumExperience working with children an assetHigh Five Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification is preferredEmergency First Aid AED/CPR BOR Standard First Aid AED/CPR CAccess to reliable transportationSuccessful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment.
