GFT is seeking a Municipal Designer (Engineer-in-Training) to join our Transportation Group. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto, Ontario office.
What you'll be challenged to do:
GFT, is looking for a Municipal Designer (Engineer-in-Training) – Drainage. With a strong civil background to support planning, design, and construction management activities for a variety of projects, the candidate will be an important member of our drainage & SWM team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a drainage and stormwater management designer you will be responsible for the involvement of several tasks/contracts with local clients to include MTO, Metrolinx and municipal clients.
The successful candidate will be expected to execute design and technical services provided to clients. You will also be responsible for design of civil/site, municipal servicing and water resources-related design projects including storm water management, storm drain, Low Impact Development, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stream restoration, wet utilities, conservation authority knowledge & permitting, and construction phase services.

What you will bring to our firm:
B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering, or related field of practice is required. A related Master’s Degree is a plus.Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registered, working towards a Professional Engineer license in Ontario, P.Eng..2 – 5 years’ experience plus in civil site design, with direct involvement in stormwater management design, hydrologic modeling, permitting and BMPs.Experience with the design and construction of wet utilities (i.e., sanitary, storm, and watermains)What we prefer you bring:
Local GTA/Ontario project experience is desired.Knowledge of the regulatory environment and approvals process.Excellent written and verbal communications skills.Construction and field inspection service experience.Knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software (InfoWorks ICM, EPA/PC-SWMM, HEC-RAS, SWMHYMO and Visual OTTHYMO) for use in completing engineering assignments.Experience and desire to use Civil3D/MicroStation and/or Auto CAD is required.
