Position Overview:

BlackRock seeks an individual to join its Municipal Credit Research team located in Princeton, NJ and New York, NY. The analyst will report to a Senior Credit Research Analyst and will be responsible for analyzing financial statements, industry/competitive analysis and preparing credit reviews on municipal fixed income securities across a variety of sectors. This position requires close interaction with our portfolio management team providing investment recommendations based upon both fundamental credit analysis and relative value metrics. The analyst will also assist with sector deep-dive reviews, client presentations and mentoring of junior staff members.

The responsibilities of a Municipal Credit Research Associate include:

Conduct fundamental credit analysis and review bond documents of various issuers

Monitor credit quality of client investments across a broad range of US Public Finance sectors, provide written credit opinions and market analysis utilizing issuer financial statements, bond pricing and other available resources

Understand economic, social, and political trends with an emphasis on identifying factors affecting municipal credit quality

Make buy, hold or sell investment recommendations based upon comprehensive research in consideration of both short-term and long-term time horizons, with an understanding for upside/downside estimate

Perform due diligence, market analysis, and cash flow projections for rated and non-rated issuers

Build partnerships and strong working relationships with peers, portfolio managers and other internal stakeholders, serving as a resource and an ambassador of the Municipal Tea

Develop deep connections with sell-side traders/analysts, internal/external counsel, industry consultants, rating agencies and other municipal professionals

Attend and potentially speak at industry conferences as an industry expert

Participate in site visits as necessary

Implement new technology capabilities to create department efficiencies and improve best practices

Work with Senior Municipal Leadership on special projects

Qualifications:

2-5 years credit research experience

Undergraduate degree; progress towards Master’s degree or CFA

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated history of working on a highly collaborative team

Critical thinker, detail oriented and experienced in financial statement analysis

Ability to multi-task while working under pressure with limited supervision

Deep passion for financial markets

Proficient in MS Office suite with technical expertise necessary to enhance productivity

Knowledge of Creditscope and Bloomberg a plus

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

For Princeton, NJ Only the salary range for this position is USD$105,000.00 - USD$140,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
