Munich Re is one of the world’s largest reinsurers providing solutions for complex risks to 40 million clients in over 30 countries. and right now we´re about to launch our unique two-year development program for young professionals from the engineering industry to become a qualified facultative underwriter, in an engineering or property reinsurance line of business.
The goal of the program is to recruit and train young industry talents in our region with the intention to afterwards join one of Munich Re´s offices across the globe.
The Role
Build on your recent work experience jumping straight into our Mexican based underwriting unit. Support development on the job, this program emphasizes action, where your responsibilities and challenges will increase as you grow.
With your peers in this program you will form a small community and benefit from experience sharing, joint training courses and networking opportunities. At Munich Re you are part of a global network of experts for countless different disciplines.
As a facultative reinsurance underwriter, your activities range from analyzing business cases to creating valuable solutions for and with clients.
You will report to the Head of Technical Services in Mexico from where we oversee the Mexican and Central American markets.
Your job:
Develop excellence in all underwriting related tasks, including i.e. risk assessment, negotiation and administrationAssess and underwrite different engineering and/or property single risks (facultative) business within the Latam regionContribute to negotiations with customers and reinsurance brokers and orchestrating team members and decision makers, with a clear focus on understanding clients’ needs to find solutions and underwrite profitable facultative businessClose co-operation with and support of other Mission Teams (i.e. Client Management and Treaty UW teams) to safeguard a holistic client approach and Mission Team excellence
Your profile:
Engineering degree: An electrical or civil engineering degree is appreciated, however, engineering bachelors, like industrial, mechanical, IT or equivalent are possible tooInitial work experience of 3+ years, ideally in Power Utilities, Civil Works or related engineering business fieldsPrevious experience in the (re)insurance market is not requiredFlexibility and willingness to pursue a career within Munich Re internationally (globally) after the 2-year program are a mustSkillsStrong analytical skills and high attention to detailStrong interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to learnHigh level of commitment, solution-oriented and “can do” attitudeFluent in Spanish (written and spoken) and fluent business English (written and spoken) are a must
