Collegiate Sports Western Illinois University, a member of The Ohio Valley Conference and sponsor of 18 Division I sports, is seeking applicants for the positions of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and three Athletic Trainers.

Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine

APPOINTMENT: June 2025

RESPONSIBILITIES: Administration of sports medicine and coordination of health care services for 400-plus Division I student-athletes in 18 varsity sport programs. Including, but not limited to injury recognition, prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, including practice and competition medical coverage and travel with assigned teams. Supervision and management of personnel, including full-time athletic trainers and intern athletic trainers. Primary liaison with health care providers, including hospitals, labs, physicians, orthopedic specialists, etc. Schedule physician appointments for student-athletes. Primary liaison with Beu Health Center; schedule physical exams for student-athletes and coordinate/communicate on student-athlete insurance issues. Ensure the effective organization of athletic training and sports medicine operations; budget management; order and monitor athletic training inventory, equipment, and supplies. Ensure and coordinate appropriate emergency care and first aid of injuries and illnesses. Coordinate NCAA and university drug testing programs. Ensure compliance with NCAA and conference rules. Assist Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Student-Athlete Success in filing medical hardship waivers or other relevant supporting documentation. Maintain medical records in electronic and hard file format, consistent with HIPPA and other relevant university standards. Daily sports medicine care of assigned sport programs and coordinate summer sport camp medical coverage.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Full-time Athletic Training experience in Intercollegiate Athletics Master's Degree in related field BOC certification State of Illinois athletic training license or eligible BLS CRP/AED Certification Valid Driver's License 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

3-5 years full-time athletic training experience Experience at the NCAA DI or DII level Experience supervising staff

Athletic Trainer - 3 Positions

APPOINTMENT: June 2025

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide athletic training/sports medicine services to NCAA student-athletes including injury and illness prevention and wellness promotion, examination, assessment and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, therapeutic intervention, healthcare administration and professional responsibility. Provide services for practices and competitions, travel with sport teams and document services provided.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Board Certified (BOC) Athletic Trainer Eligible for State of Illinois athletic training licensure Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training BLS CPR/AED Certification or eligible Valid driver's license. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Athletic Training Previous experience working as an athletic trainer in intercollegiate athletics.
