Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and versatile Building Technician to join our facilities management team in Dublin. This role requires a multi-disciplinary professional capable of maintaining and repairing various building systems across commercial properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal building performance, tenant satisfaction, and compliance with Irish building regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & RepairsPerform preventive and reactive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systemsConduct regular building inspections and identify potential issuesExecute minor building repairs including carpentry, painting, and general handyman tasksMaintain building fabric, including windows, doors, flooring, and fixturesRespond promptly to tenant requests and emergency call-outsTechnical Systems ManagementMonitor and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS)Service fire safety systems, emergency lighting, and security systemsPerform basic electrical work including lighting repairs and socket installationsMaintain plumbing systems, including taps, toilets, and drainageAssist with lift maintenance coordination and minor repairsCompliance & SafetyEnsure all work complies with Irish building regulations and safety standardsMaintain accurate maintenance records and logbooksSupport statutory testing and certification processesImplement health and safety protocols in accordance with Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005Participate in emergency response proceduresEssential RequirementsQualifications & CertificationsTrade qualification in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical disciplineSafe Pass certification (mandatory)Manual Handling certificationWorking at Height certification preferredValid Irish driving licenseTechnical SkillsMinimum 3-5 years experience in building maintenance or facilities managementStrong electrical knowledge (safe isolation, basic wiring, lighting systems)Plumbing competency (pipe repairs, fixture installation, drainage)HVAC system understanding (filters, basic diagnostics, temperature control)Basic carpentry and general building repair skillsComputer literacy for maintenance management systemsPersonal AttributesExcellent problem-solving abilitiesStrong communication skills with tenants and contractorsAbility to work independently and prioritize tasksProfessional appearance and customer service orientationFlexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends for emergenciesDesirable RequirementsAdditional trade certificationsBMS operation experienceFire safety system knowledgePrevious commercial property experienceWhat We OfferCompetitive salary22 days annual leave plus public holidaysPension scheme with employer contributionProfessional development opportunitiesWorking ArrangementsFull-time permanent positionMonday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PMOn-call rotation for emergency responseDublin city center locationLocation:
