Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
TELEMUNDO UTAH is seeking a Multimedia Journalist, responsible for presenting stories ideas, coordinate the elements for their story, shooting, writing, editing news stories and on-air delivery of daily newscasts. Another aspect of the role is to produce their stories in all our platforms, from web, social media, and OTT.
They will work closely with producers and assignment desk to ensure stories are accurately written and presented on all platforms.
This MMJ will join a dynamic an award-winning team of storytellers on our hyperlocal newscasts.
Responsibilities
+ Pitches stories that are relevant to our local communities.
+ Responsible for gathering information on newsworthy events.
+ Develop and maintain a network of contacts providing access to exclusive stories.
+ Gather information on newsworthy events and write, produce and present fair, accurate and unbiased news stories as assigned.
+ Gather news information and prepare for presentation in the newscast and all multiplatform.
+ Be responsible for providing on-air news including both in studio and frequent field shoots.
+ Create, report, and help produce news specials and packages, based on either breaking news or on pre-planned stories that were promoted ahead of time.
+ Create content for KULX non-linear platforms.
+ Assist producer in establishing sources, finding, and executing enterprise news investigations, building, and maintaining strong list of story ideas on a year-round basis, both long-term deeper digging stories and quicker turns, document acquisition and paper trails.
+ Make phone calls to set up interviews. These calls may happen outside of regular working hours.
+ Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shifts and willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice.
+ Write stories headlines and news updates for television, online and digital platforms.
+ Manage project deadlines and deliverables.
+ Respond quickly to breaking news and take direction from, and interact with, the assignment desk, producers, MMJs, anchors, and production control room personnel.
+ Will operate video camera and recording equipment, live U or Dejero and edit on Edius Pro editing systems.
+ Maintain equipment including cameras, lighting gear and news vehicles.
+ Large community involvement, making a reasonable number of appearances tied into the viewer community.
+ Must abide by the NBC – Telemundo News Standards and Guidelines.
+ Actively involved sharing news content in web and social media platforms.
+ Follow NBC – Telemundo Social Media Policies and Standards.
Eligibility Requirements

+ BS/BA in Journalism, Communications or Broadcast Journalism.
+ Minimum 1 year of experience shooting with HD Cam.
+ Minimum 1 year of experience working with film or video lighting.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience as a reporter in a top 50 market.
+ Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts.
+ Working knowledge of I-news, Stratus, Avid, Edius, Premier or Final Cut Pro.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the internet.
+ Must have strong Spanish language skills (verbal & written).
+ Must have strong English language skills (verbal & written).
+ Excellent communication skills in a high-pressure news environment.
+ Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
+ Must be 18 years or older.
+ Must be willing to work in Salt Lake City, Utah
+ Must have a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
