In the role of Multi-craft Mechanic-Utilities Department working in Elkton, VA, you will support process and technology operations through an intimate working knowledge of various utilities systems. This role will directly operate and maintain 2 large ammonia refrigeration systems, site wide HVAC, water distribution, steam and boiler operations, compressed air, CO2 recovery and supply, and mechanical maintenance and electrical distribution systems and maintenance. 

This position reports to the Line Lead--Utilities. 

 

What You’ll Be Brewing: 

 

Install, operate, and maintain equipment. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems during production and scheduled maintenance days. Simple machinist duties and responsibilities when necessary. Evaluate problems and generate options to find actionable practical solutions. Support packaging and brewing operations by coaching/mentoring, developing SOP’s, establishing quick-fix routines for the breakdown process and carrying out work activities as planned during maintenance day windows. Provide technical support to the manufacturing techs, plant engineering and contractors for baseline and capital projects.  Evaluate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance routines, making revisions and improvements to increase effectiveness  Understand the principles of product quality and balanced line flow and is proactive in verifying that repair work and modification support achieve these goals. Operate and monitor utility systems via automation systems. Make adjustments as needed for efficient operations. Onboard new team members according to the standard onboarding process. Emergency First Responder – HAZWOPER 24 Identify and highlight unsafe work practices and escalate/correct with a sense of urgency. Follow all safety approved practices and OSHA regulations  Perform high level maintenance that can include mechanical or electrical components. Understanding of pressure and temperature principles in regards to HVAC and ammonia cooling. Operation, maintenance, and monitoring of all HVAC for the site Low and medium voltage maintenance (120v, 240v, 480v, 4160v, 13800v) Ability to read P&IDs, electrical and mechanical prints  Ability to make changes in PLC, VFDs, and other automation controls Delta V (SCADA Type software) and SAP (maintenance software program) 

 

Key Ingredients:

  

High school education or equivalent required Associates Degree in Manufacturing Automation Technology, or Equivalent Technical Degree/Certification Allen-Bradley 5000 and Rockwell automation experience Experience with low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems Experience with 4160V transformers and power supply Knowledge of PLC and Controllers Knowledge of Delta V High level of electrical and mechanical aptitude/ability Prior knowledge of Utilities equipment Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Quality Food Procedures, and Safety 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience  Ability to work full-time, all shifts, all schedules, overtime, emergency coverage shifts and all days of the week to include weekends and holidays.
