To provide a supervised learning opportunity to master's level students.In this placement, the student will develop skills to effectively serve as both a child welfare professional and TST clinician by engaging, assessing, and supporting children, youth, and families through a trauma-informed lens. This includes applying core TST techniques, reflecting on clinical interactions and power dynamics, and navigating ethical practices, including appropriate termination.
Responsibilities
To provide a supervised learning opportunity to masters-level social work students; to support students' to develop competencies in areas including:
Understand and carry out the dual roles of a child welfare professional and TST clinician for children, youth & families (CYF)Implement engagement, assessment, and intervention techniques for working with CYF within a TST frameworkSummarize and formulate families’ needs, priorities, and goals verbally and in writingSupport families in meeting their goals through the application of the TST modelAnalyze, reflect on, and write about interactions with clients and familiesDiscuss and reflect on positionality and power and its impact on clinical interactionsLearn and apply ethical and appropriate termination techniques and processes Qualifications Strong Academic BackgroundClinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting psychological assessments, administering tests, and formulating treatment plans.Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, supervisors, and other healthcare professionals.Ethical Understanding: A solid grasp of ethical guidelines, confidentiality, and legal aspects related to clinical practice.Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills to interpret psychological test results and formulate hypotheses about client behavior and mental processes.Cultural Competence: Sensitivity and adaptability in working with diverse populations, respecting cultural differences, and tailoring interventions accordingly.Adaptability and Flexibility: Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations, methodologies, and feedback from supervisionResearch Skills: Experience with or understanding of research methodologies, which can be beneficial for evidence-based practice and contributing to research projects.
