Team Summary

The Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG) manages ~$35bn in custom multi-asset portfolios on behalf of institutions and individual investors worldwidePSG specializes in the discretionary management of portfolios allocating across traditional and alternative asset classes, including the use of open architecture implementation via third-party strategiesPSG is comprised of 48 team members, including 29 investment professionals globally, and is organized into five disciplines: Capital Markets, Investment Selection, Quantitative Research and Portfolio Management, Client Engagement, and Investment Support

PSG is looking for thoughtful and solutions-oriented candidates to join the team. The individual will function as a generalist with a focus on quantitative analysis. The candidate will leverage the use of proprietary quantitative tools to assist the team in solving problems and creating customized multi-asset portfolio solutions for a range of investors. The primary responsibilities include:

Design investment solutions to be deployed in both retail and institutional marketsConduct quantitative analysis to assess investment opportunity sets and key risks for various investment strategies for possible inclusion into portfolioPerform multi-asset portfolio analysis for prospects and provide investment recommendations that enhance portfolio characteristicsAnalyze current and prospect portfoliosHelp to formulate client pitches and provide support for onboarding new client portfoliosProject manage various projects simultaneously

Candidate Qualities

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field with a preference for mathematics, statistics, computer science or financial engineering.Proficiency in coding (Python preferred)Resourceful, self-motivated individual with intellectual curiosity able to demonstrate creative approach to problem solving, and strong work ethic are necessary requirement for success in the positionStrong attention to detail, follow up and overseeing projects through completionMust be able to produce high-quality work independently and excel in a team environmentMust be able to work under time sensitive constraintsMust be adept at problem solving and solutions oriented

Expected base pay rates for the role will be $55 per hour the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
