Candidates will be assessed for signing skills prior to hire**** **Minimum Qualifications** + A passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment (Parapro or Paraeducator) demonstrating the knowledge and ability to assist with instruction in reading/language, writing, mathematics or readiness for each OR the ability to pass the Parapro or Paraeducator assessment within the first 6 months of hire. + Knowledge or experience working with students in an educational and/or dormitory setting as a caregiver. + Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and to maintain records and documentation. + Demonstrated ability to communicate in conversational sign language (to be assessed prior to offer of hire). + Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with and provide direction to residential students.. **Preferred Qualifications** + Advanced ASL Skills + Previous experience/background working with deaf/hard of hearing students. **Physical Requirements** + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance. + Must be able to walk/stand for at least eight hours. **Additional Requirements** + Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check within the past 12 months.
