Job Summary: Operates a motor vehicle on public roads for long and short trips to pick up and or deliver cash and other negotiable items. May also read cash registers and or perform clerical support duties. Duties and Responsibilities: Operates a motor vehicle such as a pick-up truck sedan carry-all i.e. vehicles up to 10000 pounds to transport significant amounts of currency coins and other negotiable media to and from various locations. Requires strict compliance to accountability logs at each pickup and delivery point. Requires use of vehicle safety to safeguard contents between the multiple locations which are serviced on each route. - Requires specialized knowledge of mobile radio procedures and security procedures in the event of robbery or attempted robbery. - Completes pre and post trips inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle or vehicle being utilized for that days work . - May be responsible for servicing both NEX and MWR activities. - May be required to perform clerical support tasks. - Works under the general supervision of designated supervisor. Controls consist of specific instructions at the time vehicle is dispatched or standing instructions for recurring routine assignments. Driver s ability is regularly observed and evaluated. Vehicle is intermittently spot-checked for proper maintenance and or abuse. Trip tickets are checked for compliance with regulations and completeness. Work is reviewed for timeliness and compliance with established procedures. - Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT Light physical effort is used in operating the controls of the vehicle and moderate effort may be required in frequent handling or lifting objects weighing 40lbs or occasionally heavier with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading or unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents while driving in all types of weather on public roads is subject to cuts bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or unloading loading vehicles. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Must possess a valid state driver s license or a valid commercial driver s license CDL . 2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity command
