Motor Claims Handler

This position is within the Motor Division and will include both the desk-top administration, investigation, and negotiation of a portfolio of motor claims and the handling of complaints, on behalf of a key motor client. 

 

Specific responsibilities (including but not limited to) 

Under the overall direction of the Supervisor and working in collaboration with claim support colleagues and fellow motor claims handlers (as appropriate) the Agent’s responsibilities may include: 

 

Proactive end to end management of a portfolio of 150+ motor and casualty files with specific closure and quality targets 

Previous complaint handling experience would be advantageous together with familiarity of the CPC requirements. 

Desktop Liability investigation and determination 

Proactive investigation and settlement of claims in expedient and compliant manner 

Management of suppliers/vendors 

Provide an excellent customer service to our client 

Work as part of a team, liaising with the client and other departments 

Represent the business in a professional and positive manner at all times 

Maintain a positive attitude when faced with challenging circumstances and changing business needs 

Be flexible with time and willing to get involved in other areas of the business as requested by management, including travelling to other locations if necessary 

Qualifications/skills 

APA qualification in insurance 

Experience handling motor and/or casualty claims is essential 

Decision making skills and sound numeric skills required 

High level interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills 

Experience working in a dynamic environment 

General insurance background a distinct advantage 

Highly motivated, proactive and with excellent influential skills to influence both internally and externally 

Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 

Problem solving ability 

Customer orientated and displays a willingness to meet and understand customer’s needs 

Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy 

Possess excellent negotiating skills 

Experience 

A basic knowledge of Motor Claims classifications or Motor Policies and processes is a distinct advantage.  The successful candidate will have worked previously/currently in a Motor FNOL environment, with a demonstrable ability to be flexible, able to adapt to changing requirements and willing to learn.  

Completion of the Sedgwick Motor Accelerant Program is essential.  

Must have experience working in a pressurized environment with deadlines with a full understanding of market agreements / developments and quantum
