Where is the work:

 This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week at Lacrosse, WI location. 

Role Overview: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC Compressor Motor and Magnetic Bearing Application Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role will primarily focus on the selection, integration, and application of motors and magnetic bearings in HVAC compressors. The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in motor technology and magnetic bearing systems, playing a crucial role in New Product Development (NPD) and Engineered-to-Order (ETO) projects for the North American market. This position requires close collaboration with the Compressor Network of Excellence and the North American Compressor Applications Team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1.        Motor and Magnetic Bearing Selection and Integration:

o    Evaluate and select appropriate motors and magnetic bearings for various HVAC compressor applications, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability.

o    Collaborate with compressor design engineers to integrate selected motors and magnetic bearings into compressor systems, addressing mechanical and electrical compatibility.

o    Conduct performance testing and validation of motor-compressor and magnetic bearing assemblies to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.

2.        New Product Development (NPD) and Engineered-to-Order (ETO):

o    Contribute to NPD initiatives by providing expertise in motor and magnetic bearing selection and application, developing new compressor products that meet market demands and customer requirements.

o    Support ETO projects by customizing motor and magnetic bearing solutions to meet specific customer needs and applications.

o    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure successful product launches.

3.        Collaboration and Communication:

o    Work closely with the Compressor Network of Excellence to leverage global expertise and best practices in motor and magnetic bearing selection and application for HVAC compressors.

o    Interface with the North American Compressor Applications Team to understand market trends, customer requirements, and application-specific challenges.

o    Communicate project status, technical issues, and design changes effectively to stakeholders and management.

4.        Continuous Improvement:

o    Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to motors, magnetic bearings, and HVAC compressors.

o    Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and performance enhancements in motor and magnetic bearing selection and application.

o    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and efficiency.


 

What you will do:

·         Meet the needs of internal and external customers, through documenting, understanding and prioritizing customer requirements.

·         Apply technical expertise to solve design problems or to gauge appropriateness of product to various applications.

·         Participate on project teams to meet performance, reliability, cost and schedule objectives.

·         Create and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D models, bills of materials, drawings, and specifications.

·         Conduct design FMEAs; develop and execute resulting risk mitigation plans.

·         Both domestic and international travel may be required. Estimated travel is 10%.


 

What you will bring:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Engineering Discipline

·         2+ years experience contributing to technical aspects of product design projects, validation testing, and root cause analysis

·         Deliver technical designs to meet project and product requirements



 

Compensation:
