Description We are looking for a dedicated Mortgage Assistant to join our team in Coppell, Texas. In this long-term contract role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of mortgage loan files, leveraging your expertise in underwriting and quality control. This is an opportunity to contribute significantly to a dynamic team within the mortgage industry.
Responsibilities:
• Review and analyze loan applications, credit reports, debt, assets, and financial statements to ensure compliance with agency and company standards.
• Assess loan values, loan-to-value ratios, appraisals, and collateral documentation to identify any deficiencies.
• Detect and escalate potential fraud cases to the Fraud Investigations Unit when red flags are identified.
• Calculate and assign risk grades to loans based on identified deficiencies, categorizing them as significant, moderate, or minor.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain quality control standards and ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Conduct thorough reviews of mortgage documents, including Non-QM and FHA loans, to guarantee accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate findings and recommendations effectively, both orally and in writing, to relevant stakeholders.
• Utilize computer programs and tools to streamline processes and ensure efficiency in loan reviews.
• Stay up to date with industry regulations and company policies to ensure all work aligns with current standards. Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting or quality control within the mortgage industry.
• Strong knowledge of Non-QM, FHA, and other agency-specific guidelines and policies.
• Proficiency in analyzing financial documents, including loan applications, credit profiles, and financial statements.
• Ability to identify and escalate suspicious cases to the Fraud Investigations Unit.
• Familiarity with appraisals, loan-to-value ratios, and collateral assessments.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Competence in using computer programs and tools relevant to mortgage underwriting and quality control.
