The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) serves as a live control center, with caregivers monitoring patients 24/7 to enhance care and safety. As a Monitor Technician, you will perform ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors and provide appropriate nursing staff with timely notification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact patient condition. **A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs. + Interpret patient cardiac/hemodynamic rhythm and document in the electronic medical record. + Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information. + Orient and mentor new caregivers, serving as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units. + Provide reports for the oncoming shift. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High School Diploma or GED + Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities through formal training program in Allied Health or a healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Medical Assisting, EMT or a similar field) OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare setting + Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring Course + Experience as a Monitor Technician + Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
