Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education.
The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) serves as a live control center, with caregivers monitoring patients 24/7 to enhance care and safety. In this position, you will inform nursing staff about cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamic changes that could affect patient condition. You play an integral role in ensuring the continuity of medical attention across Martin North Hospital, making you an invaluable asset to the community.
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days between 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform and maintain ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
Interpret patient cardiac/hemodynamic rhythm and/or hemodynamics and document in the electronic medical record.
Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information.
Orient and mentor new caregivers, serving as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units.
Provide reports for the oncoming shift.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge of cardiac rhythms
Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities through formal training program in Allied Health or a healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Medical Assisting, EMT or a similar field) OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare setting
Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring course
Experience as a Monitor Technician and demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms
EMT, paramedic or firefighter experience

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a fast paced environment under moderate pressure, multi-task with accuracy to keep track of a large number of patients and requires long periods of sitting and watching a computer monitors.
Visual acuity for observing cardiac monitor data.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
