Key Responsibilities:
Receive, label, and log tissue specimens from Mohs surgeriesPrepare tissue sections using appropriate techniques, such as freezing, embedding, and cuttingStain tissue sections using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and other stains as neededExamine stained tissue sections under a microscope to identify and evaluate the presence of cancer cellsDocument findings and communicate results to the Mohs surgeon in a timely mannerEnsure the accuracy and quality of laboratory results by following established protocols and quality control proceduresProperly maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, including microscopes, cryostats, and staining machinesMaintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including specimen logs, staining records, and quality control dataMaintain and ensure accuracy to all CLIA required documentation/logsCoordinate and collaborate with Mohs clinical team to ensure all department tasks are completed each dayPerforms other duties as assignedEducation Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Histotechnician program and ASCP, or equivalent, certification as Histotechnician (HT) with 5 years of Mohs experienceOR
Bachelors degree in a science or related field and 5 years of Mohs experiencePreferred Qualifications:
