Modelshop Machinist / Toolmaker
Innovate to solve the world's most important challengesModelshop Machinist / Toolmaker  At Honeywell Portsmouth, we produce Gas sensors – these are typically done with semi-automated machines within a production manufacturing environment. We have an opportunity for a Modelshop Machinist / Toolmaker to join us at Honeywell, in Portsmouth, where you will provide machining and fitting services to support Direct Production, Manufacturing Engineering and R&D teams. This role is 100% onsite at our Portsmouth location. Honeywell Honeywell Industrial Automation enables our customers to run safer and more efficient operations. From refineries to distribution centers to retail stores, we help deliver results while improving worker safety and meeting sustainability goals such as reduced carbon emissions – by leveraging connectivity, advanced data analytics, software, robotics, sensors, process automation and asset performance management solutions. We Enable our Customers to Enhance the Safety, Sustainability, Resilience and Productivity of their People, Plants, and Assets.  Key ResponsibilitiesProvide machining and hand fitting services to maintenance technicians for emergency repairs of equipment, jigs, and fixtures, and assist in the development of new products through prototyping.Manufacture new jigs and fixtures based on technical drawings and modify existing parts, tools, or fixtures per drawings or verbal requests.Rework production consumable parts, such as sharpening cutters, and perform minor rectification work on small batches for production.Offer training and coaching to apprentices and HOS technicians while ensuring the timely completion of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) actions.Book jobs in the toolroom, plan work to meet requests, monitor consumables, conduct total productive maintenance (TPM) activities, and maintain high standards of 5S and timely completion of Kaizen ideas.Key Skills and QualificationsCity and Guilds Toolmaker\\Fitter and\\or ONC Mechanical Engineering.  A recognised indentured Toolmaker\\Fitter apprenticeship Related experience - preferably working with plastics to close tolerances.
