Responsibilities

Travel to patient locations: Traveling to designated locations (homes, workplaces, nursing facilities) to collect blood samples. Perform blood collections: Performing venipunctures and capillary punctures with precision and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Patient interaction: Greeting patients, verifying their identities, explaining the procedure, and addressing any questions or concerns to ensure a positive and comfortable experience. Specimen handling: Accurately labeling and storing collected samples for transportation to a laboratory for testing and analysis, adhering to established protocols and safety procedures. Maintaining patient records: Documenting procedures and patient interactions, including any medical issues reported by patients during the collection process, in electronic health records (EHR) with precision and accuracy. Adherence to safety protocols: Following strict safety protocols and infection control procedures, including proper disposal of medical waste and maintaining a sterile work environment. Equipment management: Preparing and maintaining phlebotomy equipment, ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked and equipment is in working order. Communication and collaboration: Communicating effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory personnel to ensure seamless care coordination and timely test results. 

Requirements

The mobile phlebotomist position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.  Key skills include excellent venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques, knowledge of infection control, strong interpersonal and communication skills, basic computer proficiency, attention to detail, time management, the ability to work independently, and adaptability. In addition, the candidate must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, pass a drug screen and background check.
