This job title has an assigned pay grade of WS-209. LPAA is responsible for the disposition of all movables, surplus property. Surplus property includes but not limited to office equipment/furnishings, art, refrigerators, medical equipment, law/garden equipment, automobiles, and marine equipment. LPAA's warehouses and most of the areas where surplus is stored by other state agencies have unconditioned air environments that can also be dusty. Summers are hot and humid, winters are cold and damp. LPAA staff loads and unloads items of varying weights and dimensions into/from box trucks, enclosed tractor-trailers, and stake-bodied trailers. This incumbent preforms a variety of tasks, including knowing what sells on the auctions and how to arrange the items in order to get the best price possible. This employee has the authority, latitude, and independence to prepare, select and display items offered on auction from new deliveries or from existing inventory. The Division of Administration is the state government’s management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: -Provides functional supervision over staff of from one to three other employees (laborers) who assist with the duties required to accomplish the tasks required to setup the auction items sold from within the warehouse using smaller forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, etc. In addition, the incumbent regularly assists other MEO 1 staff by operating box trucks, large forklifts (15, 000 ib. lift or greater), heavy equipment, lawn/farm/garden tractors and attachments, etc. which are being sold outside on the yard to either arrange surplus items or which is surplus themselves and are operated by the incumbent to line them up for the sale. For these reasons, the incumbent is required to possess a Class D Louisiana drivers' license and maintain a clean driving record. -Must learn and become proficient with any and all warehouse computer systems LPAA warehouse staff uses to receive, manage, and sell inventory and be able to use these systems and handheld scanners to group the items being sold in an auction into lots so they are removed from inventory as they are sold. -May work with state agencies, municipalities and preference buyers when they purchase directly from the surplus warehouse. This includes denoting the information on the label affixed to the property on the write-up sheet to ensure that the correct property is being sold. Uses write-up sheets or invoice documents to pull and load the property purchased into the buyers' vehicle(s). Verifies payment arrangements have been finalized before loading anything (governmental agencies are billed for purchases while 3rd preference buyers must pay for the merchandise before they can take it). May be required to operate box trucks offsite to assist with surplus property pick up functions when conditions mandate. Perform any other duty that may be assigned by supervisor.
