This position is located in DISTRICT 02 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to a Highway Foreman 1, Highway Foreman 2, or Parish Hwy Maintenance Supt. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. Job Duties and Other Information JOB DUTIES: + OPERATES THE FOLLOWING HEAVY EQUIPMENT AS NEEDED: + Asphalt Distributor – Truck mounted, backhoes, front end loaders, bucket/ladder trucks, cranes/draglines, dozers, dump trucks, gradalls, hot mix pavers, motor grader, lowboys, milling machines, road planer, road widener, sewer cleaners, striping machines, sweepers, track hoes, under bridge inspection units + OPERATES SKID STEERS, ROLLERS, JET AIR PATCHER, 72-HP TRACTORS WITH 15FT BAT WING MOWERS, AND TRACTOR MOUNTED SLOPE MOWER. INSTALLS AND MAINTAINS TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND SERVES AS A FLAG PERSON DURING TRAFFIC CONTROL OPERATIONS. USES A VARIETY OF HAND TOOLS SUCH AS: SHOVELS, RAKES, JACKHAMMER, DEMOLITION SAW, CHAIN SAW, STRING TRIMMER, AND POLE SAW.
