Overview Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital. Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more. The Hematology department consists of the analytical testing area that includes testing for complete blood count and other hematological diseases. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II (REG) performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice Responsibilities Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats. Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action. Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department. Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis. Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area. Minimum Requirements Education Associate's Degree - Physical/Life Science/related Supervisor Experience No Experience Licenses & Certifications ASCP, AMT,AAB or equiv or elig Preferred Requirements Experience
