Mini-Rack Field Engineer (Casual Position)

This is a casual, temporary role. COLSA Corporation is seeking a Field Engineer to provide short-term, subject matter expert (SME) support for Mini-Rack system, including system analysis, definition, design, development, configuration management, testing, installation, integration, and maintenance. The role will also include technical training and knowledge transfer to new staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (*Essential functions)
+ Provide SME-level support for Mini-Rack system design, fabrication, and integration*
+ Provide technical training, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to new personnel*
+ Identifies and tracks parts*
+ Updates, refines, maintains, and delivers training material*
+ Provides hardware support to systems*
+ Installs and maintains mini-rack systems, including upgrades*
+ Assists in engineering and/or environmental testing*
+ Tests, troubleshoots and repairs complex problems*
+ Assembles small to large electromechanical assemblies.
+ Tests and troubleshoots assemblies. Combines subassemblies into final assemblies, components, or apparatus*
+ Installs and maintains computer and/or security systems, including upgrades*
+ Diagnoses and corrects equipment and system malfunctions which fail to respond to standard corrective measures*
+ Assists others, including customers, in using special equipment which may be somewhat complex in nature*
+ Prepares and generates written and/or oral reports on a regular basis*
+ Provides work leadership to lower-level employees*
+ Develops/maintains schematic drawings*
+ Develops/maintains system block diagrams*
+ Provides input and direction for maintenance of system mechanical drawings*

Required SkillsRequired Experience
**This is a casual/short-term position**
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing, building, and developing drawings and integrating the NIWC Pacific Mini-Rack system
+ Strong understanding of system integration, configuration management, and electronics fabrication
+ Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and interface control documents
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
+ Familiarity with basic electronic tools and test equipment (e.g., multimeters, hand tools)
+ U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in related field
+ Prior Mini-Rack program leadership
+ Soldering certification and/or OSHA certification
