Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking an Milling Machine Machinist 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA where technology and teamwork come together. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing organization working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.
Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours; boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform own setups or determine sequence of operations.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, and 1 years additional education and/or related experience.
Ability to read blueprints/sketches or other engineering specifications.
Ability to use precision hand tools and measuring instruments.
Experience with precision measuring Instruments - Micrometers, Preset Torque tools, Reference inspection gauges, Dial indicators.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
Must be able to pass medical exam with no respiratory requirement.
Ability to work ANY shift- 4/10 1st or 2nd, 3/10 1st or 2nd.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with robotics and CNC Machining.
Knowledge of CNC programming software.
Willingness to learn CNC programming.
Primary Level Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $83,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
