Position Summary:
The Mill Unit Manager is responsible for managing the entire Milling department. This effort includes, but is not limited to, work to improve the efficiency of milling machine operations by studying and applying generally accepted machining methods while keeping employees and machines engaged. This individual works with every department and other managers to ensure daily, weekly and monthly delivery and output goals set my management are met.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates positive leadership qualities through employee engagement and open communicationChair daily tier board meetings covering the departments objectives and goals for safety, quality, production and cost metricsCarries out the execution and creation of general manufacturing principles to drive efficiency, cost reduction processes and standard work initiativesManages employee performance by providing feedback and coaching when necessary to meet or exceed expectationsEffectively monitors both sustaining and launch project timelines to meet deadlines and dates given by the organizationDrives quality initiatives throughout the organization to minimize and eliminate scrap, rejects and non- conformancesDevelops plans to maximize department asset utilization by mitigating downtime and optimizing employee work assignmentsElevates all issues, which are beyond your scope of execution immediately upon realizationWorks with the Facilities Organization to schedule equipment downtime to perform preventive maintenanceSupports the Company’s compliance to federal, state, and local environmental legislation by identifying, assessing and reporting/resolving problems concerning the environmentExecutes and implements production schedules as provided to execute throughput of high-volume components and plan the use of resources. Create of self-sustaining production schedules when neededCommunicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management in an honest, professional and respectful manner, while demonstrating effective listening skillsFlexible with time and scheduling to assure availability to Globus as circumstances warrantDevelops, evaluates, and improves machining and subsequent operations manufacturing methodsDetermines tooling requirements and assists in proving programming codes for machinesProvide accurate time studies and corrections in correlation to work order estimates as neededManages the planning, scheduling, testing and analyses on samples of completed partsProvides functional analysis in planning workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiencyProvides strategic guidance for the planning with design staff concerning product design to ensure efficient production methodsTroubleshooting programming of new projects from the customers drawings with or without codeCoordinates with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standardsEstimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for senior management decisionsConfers with other functional management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processesApplies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potentialAdheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policiesEnsures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your roleRepresents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third partiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
Qualifications:
10+ years manufacturing experience within a highly regulated industry5+ years’ experience in Leadership Roles, with experience training, developing, disciplining, reviewing and motivating employees5+ years’ experience that has included leading and implementing change in a manufacturing environmentMust have detailed experience machining various grades of steel, titanium, plastics and polymersDemonstrated high level of performance in current and previous positionsWorking knowledge of computers and computer systemsHigh School Diploma necessary, Post-Secondary Degrees preferred but not requiredDemonstrated initiative and desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations; self-starterStrong problem-solving skills and ability to find solutions within production bottlenecksPossesses statistical knowledge and the ability to apply analysis techniques to product and process improvement projectsPossesses a solid understanding of Manufacturing Principles including Process, Information and Material FlowWell organized, detail oriented and team player with demonstrated Project Management skills capable of meeting deadlinesAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAttention to detailSelf-starterAdvanced critical thinking and problems-solving skillsProficiency in using Microsoft Office productsPhysical Demands:
